Dedication to Community, Quality & Sustainability
At Hinterland Studio, we believe that our relationship with our players doesn't end when they finish the game for the night. We craft our experiences with a focus on quality and innovation, and we work hard to immerse our players in thoughtful stories and compelling worlds.
We believe that many of our players want to show their support of our efforts, by proudly owning official merchandise. We also believe that for many of our players, they don't want their experience of The Long Dark to necessarily end with the game. For this reason, as much as we can, we'll produce quality merchandise that feels like a natural extension of the game experiences we're working to create.
Local & Sustainable
Our approach to Official Hinterland Merchandise is to partner with excellent craftspeople -- as many of them being local as possible -- people whose efforts are in line with the spirit of creativity and fine handcrafted quality that we strive to inject in the experiences we make.
We also strive to source products that are ethically produced and sustainable. Wherever possible, we also look for opportunities to support social enterprise.
Partner: Wachiay Studio
We are honoured to have local Wachiay Studio doing the screen printing for much of our apparel, and some limited edition prints. Wachiay Studio is a local social enterprise with high-end screen printing capabilities, led by international screen-printing guru Andy MacDougall.
Wachiay Studio is a social enterprise operated by the Wachiay Friendship Centre in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada within the traditional lands of the K’omoks First Nation. The 2500 sq. ft. facility features a dedicated art room for analog and digital art preparation and film, a t-shirt & textile department, limited edition screenprinting up to 30x40” using environmentally safe waterbased inks, and industrial/functional print capabilities. The studio offers services for artists, schools, community groups and individuals along with an opportunity for urban and rural aboriginal youth interested in a career in art and screenprinting to learn while working alongside professionals.
Partner: Done Creative
We are fortunate to also have additional local design support from Ian Adams at Done Creative. Done Creative is all about quality, environmental protection and giving back to the community.
We are thrilled to be able to partner with Wetterlings of Sweden, to offer the Hinterland-branded Hunter's Hatchet. Wetterlings has been hand-crafting world-class axes and hatchets since 1880, and we love them for their dedication to quality and their craft.
